![]() ![]() This is really the main reason why I wouldn't recommend the game to others. I'm not a fan of that kind of ambiance in and of itself, but juxtaposed with the (wonderful) silliness of the puzzles it felt really crude and disturbing. There's pointless gore, shocking deaths, even gross sound effects. The game requires you to kill or maim many NPCs. ![]() Cult classic management sim sequel Evil Genius 2 gets March release date on PC. Sci fi point and clicker Technobabylon 2 is Wadjet Eye s first 3D game. The chapters didn't feel balanced in length or difficulty. Some of the chapters are flashbacks where there is no meaningful gameplay, just clicking on characters to reveal some backstory. I had trouble keeping some of the minor characters' motivations and origins straight in my head. It's self-consciously bleak and the characters are boring cliches. Despite my distaste for the rest of the game I finished it because the puzzles were that satisfying. Other than at the very end when the game gets buggy and the objectives unclear, they are solid retro puzzles like the best of the Lucasarts era. The positive: the puzzles are really good. In the end I decided that if a friend were asking me for input on whether to play the game I would rattle off so many negatives and only one positive, so in the "no" camp it goes. So more of that sounds good, yeah? No idea when Technobabylon: Birthright will launch.I struggled to decide between a thumbs up or down for this game. And it's a long, detailed chunk of hefty sci-fi, with some careful character work." ![]() "It has restored my faith that the genre deserves high expectations, even if it occasionally fails to meet them. A post-apocalyptic adventure game from the publisher that brought you Primordia, Gemini Rue and Technobabylon A young woman stricken with a deadly plague searches for a cure in a hostile world. I suppose I was expecting that late-nineties/early-noughties sort of blocky 3D look, still with plenty of pixellated art?
